Because of its remoteness and inaccessibility, Patagonia has always been a place of myths and legends. But now you can follow in the footsteps of the illusive puma at the foothills of the Andes, or witness the power of humpback and killer whales in the wild South Atlantic Ocean.

The Valdés Peninsula is a special treat for lovers of wildlife with the best whale watching opportunities in the world. Accessible by air, this enormous region south of Buenos Aires province features a glacier-dotted mountainous interior, unique coastal wildlife and immense national parks deep in the southern Andes.

Few other places afford you the opportunity to see gleaming blue glaciers and spectacular mountain scenery. Or if some skiing is what you are looking for you can ski the Southern Andes from June to September at Bariloche which offers excellent sports facilities and spectacular scenery. Then continue south to marvel at the Perito Moreno Glacier, a spectacular 60m high river of steep, jagged blue ice. Finally a trip to the ends of the Earth, and a stay at a top class hotel at the most southerly town on the planet, Ushuaia on the island of Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire). Here you can enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery, play golf or go skiing in this attractive resort town. Ushuaia is also famous for being the main gateway to Antarctica, with regular crossings to the “White Continent.”
