Sights

Bariloche and the surrounding area is comprised of several resorts and offers many exciting activities and apart from its excellent skiing facilities you can also go climbing, fishing, and mountain biking as well as rafting, scuba diving, and paragliding. And for golf enthusiasts there is an excellent lakeshore course with wonderful mountain views. For five days in August, Bariloche celebrates the Fiesta Nacional de la Nieve annual festivities, with ski races, parades and a torch-lit evening descent on skis to open the season officially.

The resort is also the gateway to Nahuel Huapi National Park with its beautiful lakes, forests, and snow-capped peaks which makes for great day trips. With a wide range of hotels, including the country’s most famous and luxurious, the Llao Llao Resort Hotel, and many restaurants, bars and clubs, you can enjoy the après-ski, Argentinean style.

Nearby Cerro Catedral has 53 runs totaling some 103km with 40 lifts and with plenty of variety it’s a great choice for all levels and has fantastic off-piste skiing also available.

Another resort further to the north is the chic and prestigious Las Leñas which, along with Bariloche, is famous for its restaurants and nightlife. Bariloche is also an ideal location to explore the vast expanses of Patagonia with its seemingly never-ending grasslands and vast gaucho ranches. From here you can also traverse the Andes to the spectacular mountains and fjords of southern Chile .
