Santa Cruz

Located at the heart of the archipelago, Santa Cruz is the main point of entry and the principal tourist centre for the Galapagos. Here you can observe tortoise research and breeding programs at the Charles Darwin Station, and marvel at the spectacular pit craters and lava tunnels in the interior of the islands.

Santiago

Located just to the northwest of Santa Cruz, Santiago offers visitors the chance to view wonderful groups of fur sea lions. Once thought to have become extinct a hundred years ago, they now number almost 40,000 in the entire archipelago.

San Cristóbal

The most easterly of all the islands, you can explore dramatic volcanic landscapes as well as beautiful cloud forests, which are home to the famous giant tortoises. The island is also home to the unique red-footed booby. There is also a fantastic newly-opened interpretation centre which is a wonderful addition to the island to enhance your experience.

Isabela

The largest and most volcanically active of all the islands, Isabela also supports five subspecies of tortoise – one for each of its five volcanoes. There are great opportunities to view humpback whales breaching just offshore as well as sharks, stingrays and turtles.

Floreana

An ideal place for snorkelling, Floreana has beautiful clear blue waters full of amazing sea creatures. The island is also home to Post Office Bay, where 18th century whalers used a barrel as an unofficial mail drop, and the custom continues to this day between Galapagos visitors!
