Often overlooked for the larger and more developed Pacific side, Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast stretches from the jungles of Tortuguero to the sandy beaches of Gandoca Manzanillo. Dedicated to the protection of endangered sea turtles, it’s the less-trodden coast of Costa Rica, cut off from much of the outside world. With many places only accessible from the air, this rich and peaceful coast is the perfect reward to those venturing off the beaten path.
Visiting Costa Rica, don't miss the chance to discover the Caribbean Coast.
Sea turtles are the star of the show on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, and witnessing them for yourself on a guided tour during nesting season is one of the most incredible sights in nature. While nesting sea turtles visit the park throughout the year, the greatest numbers arrive in April (Leatherbacks), July (Hawksbills) and September (Greens).
